DURING/AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

-ASSIST After School Tutoring
Tutoring is available for select students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays through our ASSIST program. Most students are nominated by their teachers however parent requests are welcomed, but not guaranteed. Ask your child's teacher for more information.

-Lunch Buddies-Big Brothers Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region partners with Hutchinson Elementary School to provide mentors to students in kindergarten through fifth grade during lunchtime. This program is intended to provide an "interested friend" with who our students can build connections. The goal is that over the school year, the mentors and mentees will build a relationship that focuses on the student. Students and mentors also will play board games, read books, and talk about the importance of school.

-Read for Life Long Learning-University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg
Read for Lifelong Learning is a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh at Greeensburg and will be offered for students in Grades 4 and 5. Student volunteers enrolled at Pitt Greensburg will meet with small groups of students after school hours on Tuesday's. The goal of Read for Lifelong Learning is to increase and enrich students' interest in reading. Hutchinson students and Pitt students will read and discuss books and participate in enrichment activities that are designed to be fun and to encourage reading.
